Fox Kits Youth Camps are fun and educational. Our Youth Pioneering Camp is three days full of fun hands-on experiential education for scouts and non-scouts alike. This course is jam-packed full with hands-on training and scenarios. Participants will be taught by explanation, demonstration and practical application by well trained Venture Scouts with plenty of experience with ropes and spars. Many of our youth instructors are also Eagle Scouts! Any scouts attending will leave having met all pioneering requirements for advancement through First Class as well as the Pioneering Merit Badge.

Which types of rope are suitable for pioneering work and why

The care and storage of rope
The potential damage that friction can do to a rope
When you should and should not use lashings

Explain and Demonstrate First Aid for the types of injuries that could occur while orienteering:

Build a scale model of a tower or a monkey bridge using either the 1-1-1 anchoring or log and stake method
As a group, select a pioneering project, create a rough sketch, make a list of the materials needed, then build the project
Make a rope at least 6 feet long consisting of three strands, each having three yarns

While Fox Kits will make every effort to contact you one month prior to the course start date to confirm your attendance we will automatically charge your card for the balance of the tuition fee two weeks prior to the first day of class. If rescheduling becomes necessary we will be happy to work with you; all payments will be applied to future training. It is your responsibility to confirm or reschedule! Requests for rescheduling must be received no later than two weeks prior to course start date at which time services are considered to have been rendered and your seat is confirmed (we can't fill vacated seats on that short a notice.) In such cases your seat is transferrable if you can find someone to attend in your place so long as they qualify for attendance.
